Well, just when I was thinking that things were going to work out for my friend that guy came and threw a spanner in the works. She had approached his girlfriend to try and warn her that he was still lying to her (while having proposed to her apparently!). Of course he now goes ballistic and starts ranting and raving at her while all she was guilty of was trying to think of his girlfriend. I suppose though that there would never be any other outcome. He is too deceitful and mean spirited to want anyone else encroaching on the people he controls. I could tell that she was hurting from his attacks by the fact that she stopped responding to me for long periods of time and when she did respond it was only with sad or tearful emoticons. I’m seriously pissed off at this guy. He’s got no scruples and it seems like he can’t face the fact that he is a control freak and has to control those around him to feel good about himself. I cannot stand the fact that he is still hurting her and seems so selfish. He doesn’t seem to grasp the fact that he is hurting her to the very core of her being. I sincerely hope that he gets repaid all this hate tenfold. no one should ever have to endure the pain and suffering my friend has had to go through over the past few weeks. I really do hope she contacts me today so I can try and chat her through it a bit. She must not be alone during this time. Sometimes a person just needs a bit of companionship and a different point of view to try and get through a tumultuous period like this.

Well, my first post is going to be a nice juicy one. So let me not keep you in suspense. Onwards oh blog muse!
The past several days have been a particularly trying time for me of late. Above and beyond the usual job stresses of work deadlines and the pressures of everyday modern life I was thrown a curve ball of epic proportions. A close friend of mine was hur very badly by someone she had opened herself up to. Now if there’s one thing to know about me then it is that I value and treasure my friends above all else in the world. I would sooner die than see them hurt. that is why I was fucking angry beyond imagination when I heard how some piece of scum had hurt my friend. she is a lovely and sweet woman who has nothing but kindness in her heart. She offers her friendship and companionship to those around her and asks nothing in return. She manages to smile even in the toughest of times. To think that some bastard could ever hurt her makes my blood boil. Complicating matters is the fact that I am acquainted with the guy. On the outside he seems very nice and well presented but after a short time you start to see the monster lurking beneath. He constantly has violent mood swings and on several occasions he would berate her with no just cause. several people who had seen him online warned her that there was something wrong with him. I suppose we should have seen the warning signs, heck, even I spoke to her about it. We both were in agreement that something big / bad was going to happen.
So come his past weekend I heard that he’s girlfriend (yes, he had a girlfriend already) received a confession from someone who told her that he had feelings for her. So she started having second thoughts about the relationship she was in. Immediately this guy starts losing it and tries to keep her at any cost, even at the cost of my close friend. He had been toying with her emotions for months by this time so it was a hammer blow of gigantic proportions when she got told that in effect she was worthless. All these months of friendship just went down the drain. What really killed me is how he responded to her plight. here she is, crying her heart out for several days straight and hardly able to think straight and he starts sending her messages trying to absolve himself of any blame by asking for her forgiveness and trying to tell her that he was feeling bad. She sent me the exact sms and I have never before read such a selfish piece of rubbish ever before. The whole message just revolved around him. Not once did he ask her how she felt.
It sickens me to think there are such heartless people out there in the world. to think someone could be so cruel and inhumane towards such a wonderful person fills my heart with hate. I don’t think there will ever be any way I can ever forgive him. It seems that he was a deceitful person who managed to fool us all with his lies and then proceeded to take advantage of our trusting nature. Its experiences like this that make me bitter. I am disgusted to be a guy. how can my gender be so thoughtless towards the fairer sex?!?! It sickens and disgusts me. Its pathetic.
As part of my job I had to recently travel through to the office of Fine Music Radio and it turned out to be one roller-coaster ride of fun! As a favour to me, Carla who works there was kind enough to give me a brief tour of their offices in the Artscape Theatre situated in the heart of Cape Town. I was also fortunate enough to meet Rodney Trudgeon who invited me in for a chat and regaled me with some background info on his daily preparation for the show. I then had lunch with Carla, Barbera and Rick at the Artscape canteen. As an extra special treat I was offered the chance to do a voice test for a news broadcaster when next I come through to the station. So hopefully this time next month I’ve taken my first tentative steps into the wonderful world of entertainment. ;D
My thanks to Carla and all the staff at FMR for making my visit a most pleasant and enjoyable experience. Thanks guys!!
With my Discovery Health medical aid and Vitality membership finally having come through I went earlier this past week to join up with the masses at my local Virgin Active. Being a bean counter and serial gamer means that my general fitness is not all that up to scratch so I’m aiming to start off nice and slow and work my way up to a better level of health and fitness. So this Saturday morning I strode on down to Tygervalley to meet up with one of the lifestyle consultants who drew me up an exercise program. Boy, was it tough trying to get my desk-bound muscles to get some exercise!!
I’m going to try and make it 2 to 3 times a week, so wish me luck on my exercise journey.
After being the happy recipient of a refund from SARS I decided to splash out on some PC gaming goodness for once. As Kitti has being raving about the wonders of Dungeon Siege and I am in the mood for a bit of RPG bashing I popped into my nearest Reggies this week and picked up a cheap copy of Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna to while away the ours. I’ve never been that much into the Diablo mould of RPGs and Dungeon Siege falls into this genre. I’ve been raised up on a diet of D & D RPGs of the Baldur’s Gate ilk so its been interesting to play this game. The battles are much more simple and over quickly. In Baldur’s Gate as soon as you see an enemy you’d hit the pause button and begin laying down actions for your party while all the time taking into consideration the relative strengths and weaknesses of the enemies you find yourself up against. Dungeon Siege managed to become one of the first games to do away with the need for loading times by streaming the data continuously meaning you can walk from above ground to caverns and tombs without being forced out of the world the games developers have created. Playing DS now is a bit of a shock graphics wise, but that’s only because graphics have moved so far ahead in the past few years. Sound wise we have the usual epic orchestral score that evokes images of the Lord of the Rings movies. Character voices are . . . different. They’re certainly not the most well done and the actors sound like they really did this at gun point, but voice acting has never been the be all or end all of the RPG genre, though it would have been nice to have some good acting to complement the setting. In terms of story there’s not too much to get excited about. Its your stereotypical fantasy setting with a main character that has to rise above his / her circumstances to battle an evil menace that has arisen. While it might sound like I’m not too fond of the game nothing could be further from the truth. My initial time playing DS has been great fun and Chris Taylor should be commended for reinvigorating the RPG genre. Thanks for the heads up Kitti!

Just a quick post to all you landlubbers out there. Today be Talk Like A Pirate Day. So go out there and spread the joy of being a pirate to all the scurvy scallywags out there! Should they not be in the pirate spirit then keel haul them or force them to walk the plank!! So kick back tonight and treat yourself to watching some Captain Sparrow with a mug of grog.

It was quite a shock this morning to wake up and hear that Colin McRae had died in helicopter crash near to his 17th century mansion in Scotland. He was a legend in driving circles having won the WRC title on several occasions and taken part in the Le Mans 24 hour endurance race and the Paris to Dakar rally in recent years. Most people outside the sport’s circles will most probably be aware of his name from the best selling franchise of video games made by Codemasters with Colin McRae DIRT being the latest. From my own point of view he fostered my love of rallying and led to me becoming a huge fan of the WRC. Its a huge loss to the sport that such a personality has been lost.

Manchester United seem to be making a habit of scoring as few goals as possible this season while at the same time winning games in nail biting fashion. Today’s result against Everton just goes to prove that. Having looked decidedly unable to overcome a stubborn Everton defence it came as a huge relief to leave Goodison Park with the 3 points after a superb header by Nemanja Vidic in the 83rd minute from a Nani corner. Throughout the course of the game it seemed like both teams had managed to cancel each other out quite effectively with only the occasional shot on goal enlivening the action. United did suffer yet more injury worries with a quite serious looking knee injury to Mikel Silvestre during the first half which led to Sir Alex shuffling his team and introducing Nani into the fray on the left wing. Though both Saha and Rooney had returned from injury neither were risked for the game with an upcoming Champion’s League tie in Portugal during the week. Saha did manage to come on for the last part of the game but never really looked like causing any trouble for Everton. Cristiano Ronaldo also made his return from a 3 game suspension and while showing signs of rust he did provide United with some attacking options. If United can manage to bring both Rooney and Saha back into the team without injury concerns to partner Carlos Tevez up front then hopefully we should start seeing more goals being scored by United. While looking as defensively sound as ever this season its been their lack of goals that has led to cause for concern. Our first sign of how they’ll fair during the European campaign will come during their mid-week fixture away at Sporting Lisbon. Any inability to score goals in Europe will cost them dearly.
